We are happy to announce that the executive producer of The Event has visited us and given us an update on our common efforts, it can be found on our event page in the comments (May 24, 2011 at 12:17 pm) but for easy access we have reposted Steve’s message here:
“We are in current discussions with a cable network about bringing back the show back in some capacity so we can continue telling the story of the Event and the new dynamic that’s been created by the orbit of the new planet. I am grateful to all of you for following us this season and for this grass roots campaign. More to follow… ”

My entire family never misses an episode. We just finished watching the last episode and we want more!!!
I will watch wherever you put it even if I have to pay for it. It is a perfect show for Syfy. Look at how long Stargate SG1 ran on syfy.
I first began watching the show becuase there was nothing else on at the time but after only a few episodes I got hooked. This has become one of my favorites shows, along with Sanctuary, Eureka, and other Syfy shows, and I hope it doesn’t get cancelled like Stargate Universe was.

My husband and I are totally distraught over this cancellation. The ONLY brilliant show on TV gets cancelled? Sick to death of reality shows, sick of people singing, dancing, climbing mountains, living on islands, losing weight, WHO CARES?! Too much reality! I want to be entertained and The Event entertained! Brilliant show, how could NBC do something SO STUPID? Cheers & Seinfeld had low ratings their first seasons. Well, GOOD BYE NBC! I’ll follow The Event wherever it goes!

I have not had a program that has caught and kept my interest like The Event in a long time. I will watch The Event no matter what network picks it up. I believe NBC has done the viewing public who wants a quality show a disservice by cancelling this show.
This really sucks. I mean why would NBC cancel such awesome shows that get better episode by episode? It’s ridiculous that they have to get rid of shows like this right after such an overwhelming season finale which makes me want to watch it even more! I think it’s just so stupid when we have to get rid of amazing shows such as The Event and V ( shows that actually have meanings and plots to them ) while there are so many dumb pointless shows that actually still air! I am really hoping that NBC does not cancel any of my 2 favorite t.v shows, otherwise if they do, F*** them for ruining my television life.

One of the 3 best series on TV. Great fast moving story line that is entertaining and exciting week after week. I am sure it has the fan base to bring it back in some way. Sci Fi channel would be ideal since this is the type of program that sci fi fans appreciate. Great cliff hanger to end the season and I have to see the VP get whats coming to him.
The Event has kept my family riveted for the past couple of months, and the finale was amazing. I am sick at this news and furious with NBC. This is #2 on the WTF list behind the cancelation of Firefly, and just edges out the cancelation of Sarah Connor Chronicles (which was really getting good at the season finale). I want to know what happens next on this smart, well-acted, creative drama! Don’t give up!

Oh well, I don’t get cable so if it is back only on cable I will not be able to enjoy it until it is out on DVD – not all shows come out on DVD so I will cross my fingers:)
Lisa, if you have high-speed internet, you can watch many (most?) things online, at least for a short time after they are aired. I usually rewatched The Event episodes at the NBC site. They had each of them available for a few weeks.
My husband and I really enjoyed “The Event” and hope it is brought back to some network. I really hope someone pick up this show… I’m crossing my fingers.
I just can’t believe NBC.. I haven’t watched TV for over ten years except for catching glimpses from other people’s living rooms. I’ve never actually owned a tv but have watched plenty of things online. I bought a TV tuner card for my PC just for this show.. It’s funny to see some of the people here who think they know something about a good film and seem to enjoy criticizing this fantastic show. You can’t tell me this show wasn’t absolutely fantastic and I’m incredibly disappointed with the possibility of not seeing it continue. I’ve watched every episode and was anxiously on the edge of my chair with each one, partly because I recognize so many things about this show that have been pulled from a pool of knowledge and theories about something real out there. The creator knows something about this subject and it really has made the show completely addictive for me. The aliens aren’t googly eyed insectoids for once and make you wonder about whether we might really have some relatives out there somewhere. There was something exciting to add to the story in every episode. I don’t understand where people come off saying the show was boring.
I just hope some other station can pick this up. I’d really love to see a book if I never get to see the show continue but I’d much rather see the cast return and continue the story in the manner that it has been. The actors/actresses and characters are fantastic and likable. This has been the only thing worth watching on TV for me in the last ten years.. NBC, get a clue.
I e-mailed SyFy and suggested that they bring in V and the Event to their lineup!!
OMG! Please bring this show back. I literally gasped when I saw the planet brought in at the last episode and then the final word from the first lady “home..” I mean shit, that is suspension as all hell and you NBC goes and cancels it?! I hope another network picks this up and the ratings go through the roof. Fire all the staff at NBC and start over with people who know what the hell they are doing.
I cant believe it was canceled. My husband has been saving every episode to watch it in one go and now I get to tell him not to bother because it will be pointless. Same thing happened with flash forward only we didnt have the sense not to watch it before realizing it was canceled too.
As always, network tv has messed up again. The Event was a very good show. Some of the critics said it was too hard to follow in the beginning. Basically, all you had to do was pay attention. Not hard. I really enjoyed watching this show and really hope that another network will pick it up. Same thing happened to V, Flashforward, No Ordinary Family and Detroit 187. You get into watching the shows and the storylines and then the networks cancel them. I’ve had enough of it. We need our shows back!!!
I want this show to come back so badly! My bf and I watched it every week and think its awesome. I don’t understand how NBC could cancel such an amazing show! I know a lot of people who also love it. So hopefully NBC “wakes up” and sees that they made a mistake!

Alright, The Event’s definitely not the most popular program out there but from what I’ve read there were more than enough season one followers for there to be a second. I’m understandably pissed that it’s been cancelled. There are so many questions left unanswered. It’s the ONLY show that’s kept my interest throughout the first season and the only show I’ve actually followed. I really hope we’ll be able to see a second season, especially after such a brilliant finale for the first. So frankly, the show being cancelled is a piss take and a middle finger to the loyal followers. Well… fuck you right back, NBC. It’s a shame you’re only trying to please the people who are too simple to follow a show slightly intellectual for more than a few minutes.
This is getting ridiculous. Another Flashforward. Why are all the good shows getting cancelled?? I mean how many Housewives of… Can we really watch?? I am a fan of reality TV but good tv dramas are needed as well. The Event is good TV and should be kept!

hey guys the problem here is i don’t think the corporate big wigs even watch the shows they can
so until they do i say leave them going at least 5 seasons this will give the public what we want at the end of the day it’s us who need a major break from all the reality ,cop ,law and game shows these are so 70s get with the times
we pay for tv now and with all the canned shows now its not worth the raping my wallet gets each month i feel my self and all si fi fans should boycott the networks who do not have the balls to take a small loss in the beginning to reap the rewards later
bring back these shows and start a network that shows only these and i feel you will be on a winner
because if these shows die it means a buttload of writing for me iv’e just finished 2 books one for sliders to end it and one for space ubove and beyond two shows that could have ended with a tele movie
im also in the middle of my own si fi series called (invasion at rygaria) because im sick of the non original crap that is being pushed our way at the moment
so if we all band together and show the fat shirts that we are the ones who eventually pay for these shows they might see things differently

This is my favorite t.v show! The walking dead with only 7 episode is at first but since it stopped i found this and have been a HUGE fan since day one. We need to bring this show back i love it!
I am utterly disappointed in ABC. The cancellation of “No Ordinary Family” has really chapped me this time. That show was “fresh”, “happening”, “creative”, “risk-taking”, “extremely rare”, but “EXTREMELY GOOD”. I am sooo tired of all these shows that are the same run-of-the-mill type of shows. It gets rather boring watching a million shows based on a murder case (SERIOUSLY). How about a million shows based on a “surgery” (COME-ON). I mean, for once I would love to have a show like “No Ordinary Family” make it into a season 6 or 7 and not have to be on SyFy to do it.
With that said, could SyFy possibly pick up “No Ordinary Family”? The end of season one was simply amazing and left it open for some real good episodes to follow.
Please save this show! Soooo many new people are watching the past episodes now because they saw how excited everyone was over the last one. You’ll have MANY more viewers!~

I can think of many scenarios resulting from Elias learning Christina is non-terrestrial, or is she really? My first thought is she was born on Earth of non-terrestrial parents so she is not extra or non -terrestrial but is not human. She has perhaps never seen her home world and suddenly there it is. Her parents have perhaps showed her photos.
Elias has accepted Simon Lee saved his life. He doesn’t know Michael Buchanan made the first move toward saving his life. He will learn Christina gave him the life saving injection. He will learn Christina helped Simon escape. He will accept this.
What to teach David about all this so that a young mind can understand, this is the problem.
A problem whose resolution we have the right to see for ourselves.
Jarvis deserves the needle and will get it. But what of Sophia? Don’t we have the right to learn her fate?
Please someone air The Event.
The Event is the only show I looked forward to watching each week, I actually looked forward to Monday because of this great show. Every Monday since it finished for the season I still think about it and miss it. Wish they were replaying it this summer, I would watch it again. I was very surprised when I heard it may be canceled because it was so well written, the cast is great and the story line is fantastic. The way the season ended was great, there is so much more this show has to offer it really needs more seasons. Someone really needs to bring this show back. It would have had better ratings if it were not taken off for 3 months, also, I only saw one commercial that mentioned it’s return. It started to gain more fans. I am sure if it were replayed from the beginning it would get a new group of fans. If it had more seasons it would be another hit like Lost and 24!!

The Event was arguably the most intelligent and engaging show on television. Why should we be surprised that the brain trust of nbc execs decided to cancel it (to say nothing of losing Outsourced – also fresh and engaging.) You have nothing left but 30 Rock. When will you be taking that off the air? I will think twice before engaging in any new show this network airs. I hope the treasure that is The Event is picked up by anothet network. It will have many loyal viewers following it, including me.
